August 22, 2009: Created two government websites with graphic designer Arto Tavukciyan:
June 25, 2009: Two new websites for artists:
- New site for BC's Academy of International Dance Arts.
- Need funny? Invite Vancouver Comedian/Actor Dan Joffre to your party.
June 17, 2009: Launched this very simple site for BC's Sunshine Coast Developers: SPANI.
June 13, 2009: Another artists website: Your guide to a world of undiscovered art for sale. This website was a fun learning experience for me using Django, Python, and Google App Engine.
May 14, 2009: Finished three new websites.
- Chrisbritton.ca - Portfolio website for screen and voice-over actor Chris Britton
- JoLeblanc.com - Portfolio webite for Vancouver set decorator for tv and film
- PayCheckForLife.org - Millions of American Boomers are headed for a generational bummer if they don't start saving for retirement
February 25, 2009: Quick, cute and practical. Just finished the website for Vancouver based speech and presentation coach, Rena Cohen: The Art of Public Speaking and Self-Development.
February 13, 2009: New photography portfolio website for John C Watson.
January 22, 2009: Glamourous, comfortable, and natural. Presenting the new flash website for Maudlin & Joy Clothing.
December 15, 2008: Simple new website for career development specialist: Atley Morrow.
December 1, 2008: I'm back from China! Here's some video highlights:
October 16, 2008: So you think you don't folk dance? I created this website as a record of the dance symposium, hosted by Battery Opera earlier this year. It is very difficult to read text about dance, so we embedded related YouTube video references to illustrate. Hearing the music and seeing the dance really helps to explain what they're talking about.
August 29, 2008: I just finished two new websites for two very different artists.
Custom Flash website: Hire a singer & party band for special occasions in Calgary, Vancouver, Las Vegas or anywhere in between. Barry Shaw is quite the character!
HTML website design: Vancouver Artist Sculpture Gallery. Lee Gass is a prolific writer, sculptor and educator based in BC, Canada. A few of my favourites Eternal Flame, Listening to the Wind, and Chicken Contemplating a Most Unusual Egg.
June 13, 2008: Need funny? Check out Vancouver improv master: Dan Joffre. I helped him embed the video on his site.
May 12, 2008: Working hard... I recently created 6 custom website designs for creative businesses:
Chatswood Pilates Studio is located in Sydney, Australia. The website's Flash header effectively illustrates the benefits of massage and pilates therapy. Animated swooshes and beautiful photos were rendered as video in Adobe AfterEffects using Trapcode's 3d Stroke plugin.
Sproule & Associates is the architecture/planning company responsible for Whistler Village (location of the 2010 Winter Olympics). The site uses simple Flash slideshows to display photos of Sproule's past projects around the world. We used background blueprints of 3d designs and minimalist animation.
Tomorrow Collective are three prolific dance artists based in Vancouver, BC. Infamous for presenting the Brief Encounters series of performances, Tomorrow Collective challenge pairs of diverse artists (who have not previously met) two weeks to produce and perform a new show.
Joel Oreilly / Denise Brynelsen sell real estate on the beautiful Sunshine Coast in BC, Canada. They will happily show you the best waterfront properties by boat. The new website has a convenient client interface to update their listings, photos, text, etc.
Natalie Fischer is a vancouver based artist. She is a gifted acrylics painter who will happily take custom requests for paintings of homes, landscapes, pets or portraits. Her site is a simple showcase of her work, and represents what I'm happy to provide: artists websites design.
Maples Cottages rent cabins on Sharbott Lake, Ontario. This is a simple hybrid html site with a Flash header. Sharbott Lake is a great spot for fishing... If I'm not too busy I'll take some time off and visit this year.
Jan 20, 2008: I'm proud to present the perfectly quirky art portfolio website for Shawn Beho. I made his site with Flash, PHP5, XML and my handy content management tool: ADAM8.
Jan 7, 2008: Designed new site for Proximity Arts.
Dec 18 , 2007: Created new website for L.A./Vancouver based 3D RealFlow animation artists: Fusion CI Studios. You must see their incredible cg fluids and particle fx. Fusion's previous website was created entirely in Flash AS2, and converted to HTML/Flash hybrid.
Dec 14 , 2007: The day after taking the call from my client, this ad was designed and sent to print in a German magazine. Created using Photoshop and InDesign in the new Adobe Creative Suite 3.

Oct 10 , 2007: I've been very busy since my move up the coast... I created this sexy half page ad (below) for the December issue of Fine Art Connoisseur magazine. Also I launched MearingStone.com (audio warning: bagpipes!), an eccentric bagpipe & taiko drumming band.

August 9, 2007: Created logo, cd booklet and website for musician Cary Chow.
July 24, 2007: Created this simple website for North Shore Zendo, a zen meditiation group based in North Vancouver, BC Canada.
June 23, 2007: Finished the new web design for Vancouver's dbc sound, professional audio post-production company.
May 25, 2007: A little while ago artist Barry Egerton and I met in a cafe to discuss creating a website for his artwork. I had no idea how fascinating his sculptures are! This is his life's work. His gallery uses the popular lightbox technique. Barry's inspiration for the site design was, ahem, borrowed from Apple's OSX system preferences.
May 23, 2007: New site designed for prolific artist Glenys Griffiths. Her website has all the usuals: she can edit the text herself and add photos of her art to the slideshows.
May 21, 2007: We've been nominated for a Jessie Award for the video work in the Virtual Stage production of Spank!. I worked with a team on the 3d animations that were projected behind the actors. Think of it as live green screen. One scene had the actor flying suspended by rope in front of my 3d environment. The technique worked very well... I even jumped in my seat when I saw the live performance of the sequence I rendered. Kudos to visuals designer Jamie Nesbitt and artistic director Andy Thompson!
May 9, 2007: My latest creation is the title motion graphics sequence for the tv colombia reality show Roomies. The music might be changed, so I left the audio out.
April 23, 2007: New site done! Felix Culpa (notice the snake)
April 19, 2007: Vancouver's Hard Rubber Orchestra now has a strong new website designed for their big sound.
April 12, 2007: It's that time again... Today I completed the new, very simple web site for my trusted accountants. Quantum Accounting specialize in financial services for arts organizations, small businesses, and people like us.
March 7, 2007: Rumble Productions are presenting Tremors, their festival of emerging arts between March 14 - 31, 2007. Three mainstage shows are:
- The Headless Cowboy, from Calgary's Broken Spoke Theatre
Rock, revenge, and an alien named Ginger With Knives! - Fathom, from Montreal's SaBooge Theatre
Convicts, Tasmania, and an earth-shattering secret! - YU-FO, by Vancouver's Theatre Replacement
A mysterious hitchhiker, a BC highway, and a really juicy peach!
March 4, 2007: See Root Cellar, the underground homespun video from Vancouver's Thunderbrooms.
Feb. 13, 2007: Check out Peter Robinson and his duelling grand pianos next Wed, the 21st at the Wired Monk! He'll be recording the event so he needs a rowdy crowd. I'll be there.
Jan. 29, 2007: Just made two very, very quick title animations for the Moving Pictures Film Festival.
Jan. 12, 2007: Here are three new black & white websites I just recently launched:
- Hlynsky Architect: West Vancouver architecture design firm. This is a very simple portfolio website. It uses my new unpatented photo gallery system. Actually, most of my new sites use the new flash slideshow tool I created, which is easy for my clients to update. I'm just slightly proud of how well it works, and how good it looks.
- Battery Opera: Vancouver BC based dance company (I created their original website way back in 2000.) I think the animated paint splatter effect nicely reflects the company's tighly chaotic aesthetic.
- Kinesis Dance: Yet another dance company. Paras is originally from Greece, and he tours around the world choreographing his creative vision, but most of the time he lives two blocks from me on Commercial Drive.
I'm delighted to say my next project will be tropical, colourful and bright!
Nov. 28, 2006: Shopping online this Christmas? Why not buy some things from a few of my talented clients:
- Shynessandbloom: one-of-a-kind cute handmade artsy critters
- Mothertrucker: nice clothes, ask my girlfriend.
- The Split Ender: for the hairspray addicted metal-head on your Xmas list
- The Flower Box: diamonds are forever, flowers a few days
- Etsy: Okay, so they're not clients of mine... but this is really the best place in the world to find crazy artistic crafts. I especially admire the time-machine. Call me if you want one made for you!
Nov. 26, 2006: This weekend only! Vancouver artists: Eastside culture crawl.
Oct. 27, 2006: See Iraq For Sale, Vancouver, November 7
Oct. 11, 2006: I just finished the scary flash animation for the PNE's Fright Nights website. (Not recommended for ages 12 & under, Seniors 65+, people with sensitivity to strobe lighting, people with high blood pressure, pregnant women or scaredy cats.)
Oct. 10, 2006: If you're in Vancouver BC between now and October 20th I strongly recommend you see The Virtual Stage's absurdist sci-fi comedy Spank! The play is a meditation on the unlimited power of an underdeveloped mind. As an animator, I can relate to that! I modeled and rendered the 3d backgrounds for five scenes (and did the website too.)
Sept. 22, 2006: I just created this mini-site: TheFlowerBox.ca, for a cute little flower boutique just off Commercial Drive in Vancouver.
Sept. 5, 2006: New design for the Western Theatre Conspiracy! I created the flash, html and stylesheets. Programmer extraordinaire Greg Burnham built the slick database backend.
Sept. 1, 2006: Website redesign for Rumble Productions is up! This weekend check out their Silent Summer Nights at Grandview Park, a coproduction with Radix theatre. What is better than watching great films outdoors with live music? The weather will be warm and clear, the movies start at 8:15.
July 12 , 2006: Paul Anthony stars in the new movie Eighteen debuting Friday at Tinseltown (best theatre in town.) Shot here in BC, this Canadian film was written/directed by Studio 58 grad Richard Bell and features Sir Ian McKellen as narrator. Visit the website, see the trailer, read the review, go to the after-party.
July 9 , 2006: Viva Italia! I live on Commercial Drive in Vancouver and I shot a bit of video of the animated crowds after Italy won the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
June 16, 2006: Hugh Phukovsky is 1/12th of a really interesting show this weekend called BRIEF ENCOUNTERS. Artists of different disciplines are paired together and asked to collaborate on a short piece. So you will see a tap dancer with an opera singer, a welder with a dancer and a filmmaker with a fashion designer etc. This is the 3rd time the Tomorrow Collective has worked this concept. The other 2 stagings have received glowing reviews everywhere! So there is a really good chance that the show will be amazing.
Friday June 16th, Saturday June 17th - 8pm @ Katy Harris-McLeod's studio, The Office (68 Water st. above Sonar) in Gastown, Vancouver.
June 7, 2006: Two new animations by me:
- France to Vancouver's Golden Ears Bridge - What would it be like to fly around the planet in a minute? If this inspires you, try Google Earth.
- Golf animation - I made this Flash animation with help from Photoshop. The backgrounds are raster .PNG layers, and the heron and golfer are vectors. I've never played golf.
June 5, 2006: For the past month I have been sitting next to jamie griffiths and Diego Samper while they work on EARTH=home for Judith Marcuse Projects, part of the World Urban Forum Conference and Arts and Culture Festival. See the live performance! Vancouver, June 21 - 25
May 16, 2006: Also this weekend, check out Find Me Here @ The Firehall in Gastown, Vancouver, a part of BC Buds Spring Arts Festival running May 19-21. The festival features of multidisciplined new works from the likes of Theatre Replacement, Puppeteers, Magicians... Find Me Here is conceived and performed by Tricia Collins and kitchen. Show times are on Saturday @ 2, 2:30, 3, 3:30 and on Sunday @ 4:30, 5, 5:30 starting in the lobby.
May 15, 2006: This Saturday, come by to check out the Swingin' sounds of the Livin' In Swing Orchestra! Featuring a solid band including Grand Piano, Bass, Guitar, Drums, Sax, Trumpet, Trombone, 3 backup singers, and several featured vocalists. 7 pm - Swing Dance Lesson / 8 pm - Band Starts. Grace Vancouver Church, 1696 W 7th Ave ~ 604-738-3537 ~ Tickets: $12 advance / $15 door
May 10, 2006: MotherTrucker Clothing will be having a fashion show on friday, May 12 in North Vancouver. I know its all the way across the bridge at the wierd Capilano Mall, but it should be really fun. This is their brand new line for summer. There is going to be a performance by Bibi at 6pm, and then the fashion show at 7pm, and then at 8:15 Radix Theatre is doing a show. So it should be a fun filled evening, with a little something for everyone. And it's free, which is also a bonus.
Contact me: adamjones at adjo.info May 1, 2006: Behold the ugliest website entered into the spring 2006 css reboot contest. Clients please note: your site will NOT look like this! This is just a test. I am temporarily too busy to take on new work so I thought I'd turn off all potential jobs with something funny, brown and decidedly un-cool. I like feedback... what do you think?
April 22, 2006: Designed a small bio for a beautiful and quirky Irish-Chinese-Guyanese-Canadian actor, Tricia Collins.
I also delivered another flash intro for Products of Tomorrow. To create it, I used Maya, Flash, and After-Effects.
April 17, 2006: Another dance site! This simple & elegant website is for the Vancouver based Indian classical dance company: Shakti Dance.
April 11, 2006: Far out, man! Here is a small 2d flash animation I am working on for Wondertree, a home learning centre.
March 3, 2006: Here are two artist's websites I re-designed and just launched this week:
January 17, 2006: Completed custom Flash, animation and website design for Rachel Boult of Shyness and Bloom Design Company. Rachel maintains control her own site using Blogger and Paypal. She is quite the gifted artist! And now as new business owner I want everyone to please go buy her stuff!
December 16, 2005: Here are three vastly different animation jobs I did last month:
- Goosanchos - Cartoon jingle
I slapped this 2d animation together really fast! I'm designing the website now. - Wray Group - Animated 3d logo
I animated this meta-ball logo in Maya. Matching the 3d animation with the client's real logo was a challenge. I used layered transparency masks in Adobe AfterEffects to pull off the illusion. - InterMoly - 3d flythrough
Really technical stuff here: 3d animation visualization of a molybdenum mine in Greenland. I truly love this kind of information graphics. The client provided 3d DXF files of the mountain, drill holes, minerals grades underground and a detailed satellite image.
